boho bling

This is what I have been up to when not manning the Colorado Horse Rescue booth at National Western Stock Show.  One of my new ventures this year (soon) is to open a Bella Boho jewelry shop on Etsy.

I will be offering different natural beads, such as shell and pearls, semi-precious stones and blingy glass beads.  I'm still in the designing process, but any feedback, pro or con, is most definitely welcome!

dining in: light and tasty fish in foil

After eating, eating and more eating over the Holidays, I have been craving light and fresh meals, which means I have been eating salads.  A lot of salads.  To change it up a bit, I made fish in foil.

The original recipe (sorry, not sure what magazine it came from) calls for halibut and was cooked on a grill, well, it was a bit late and rather chilly outside, so in the oven it went.  I also used Swai fish instead of halibut.  Believe it or not, I purchased the Swai, frozen fillets, from Wal-Mart.  $3.95 for four fillets and it was delish, firm and flaky!

Swai with Tomatoes, Rosemary, and Zucchini in Foil Packets

2 medium zucchini, quartered and cut into 1-inch pieces

1 pint grape tomatoes

1/4 C pitted kalmata olives, halved

4 Swai fillets

3/4 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. black pepper

2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced

4 sprigs fresh rosemary

2 T olive oil

Preheat oven (or grill) to 350° to 400°.  Arrange 4 sheets aluminum foil on work surface.  Divide first 3 ingredients evenly among sheets of foil.  Top with Swai fillets; sprinkle fillets evenly with S & P.  Divide garlic evenly among fillets; top each with a rosemary sprig and drizzle with oil.  Gather sides of foil over fish and veggies to cover completely; crimp edges to seal packets.

Place fish packets in oven (or on grill).  Cook for 5-6 minutes, then turn packets and cook another 5-6 minutes or until veggies are sizzling inside packets and fish is opaque throughout.  Makes 4 servings (duh).

The zucchini was crisp yet tender and the tomatoes juicy, super easy, light and fresh!

Enjoy!

style board: if i could have a new family room...

I just re-did my cocktail table (1st time in many, many years) with my new fabulous fashion books and it got me thinking...what if I could go out and purchase a whole new family room...
the inspiration table, to be displayed on top of the Chinese cabinet

I am truly my most difficult client to date, hence the style board being a day late.  I had to use my favorite Oasis Sofa from Crate & Barrel as well as my favorite Rattan Tafari Lounge Chair from KMP.  Throw in a little mod, a touch of glam and voila, a Boho Chic Family Room for 2-K-12!

interiors: fresh & glam beach bungalow

Along with the itch to get organized in the New Year, a lot of us crave fresh interiors and the bungalow home of interior designer Vanessa De Vargas is just that, FRESH!  It's no secret that I have a crush on bamboo, faux and gilded or natural and fabulous.  I mean really, how spiffy are these bamboo blinds with this gorgeously glam Chesterfield sofa?

Her bungalow may be petite, 550 square feet, but it is big on style.  Her "beach chinoiserie" home was first featured in Fresh Home, Summer 2010 and then again in Lonny Issue Two.

found: home office inspiration(s)

With the start of every New Year, I am bit by the tidy-up n' organize bug.  The image below is my sad little work corner, but not for long!  With the awesomeness of my business growing and new ventures being added, I am feeling the need for a better work space more than ever.  I'm diggin the space in Image 1 (above), oh so stylish and tidy.
Image 3 is just so glam and modern.

Fantastic storage bins above in Image 5.
I love this old table for a desk above in Image 6 and I will definitely borrow the frame idea for my inspiration board.
Cool file basket above in Image 7.

This space above in Image 9 is my fave, and is the closest to what I can achieve in my corner of limited space.  Stay tuned for the transformation!
