I am very pleased with the style mix of this great room, a little modern with a touch of glam and most definitely comfortable... while I'm digging the charcoal color of the sectional, it would be equally fabulous in a buttery soft black leather. Most rooms in the "black and white house" have a pop of color; turquoise in the dining room, coral in the bedroom and now a delicious maize color in the great room.
For me this is an ideal sectional; clean modern lines, low and comfortable. The seating is deep and the chaise corner is wide enough for two peeps to cuddle for movie night. The nesting tables are easy to move around when needed and how cute is the chair?!

tuesday's treasure: neutral contemporary penthouse, decor spring/summer 2008
I of course had to choose this spread after seeing this pop of orange in this neutral, brown and white penthouse... the penthouse belongs to artist Craig Nassi in Denver and was designed by John Moinzad and David Hintgen. While the interior is quite contemporary, even minimal, the neutral palette is cozy and cool.

fab find(s): orange
Orange has always been one of my favorite colors, be it melon, tangerine, blood orange, etc....it is hip, mod, cool, and lately I have been obsessed with it! I spotted a tall dimpled orange vase at HomeGoods a couple of months ago. I will probably purchase the vase, even though it doesn't quite have a home in my home, but it will in a future hip and swanky room with a loungey vibe, thanks to the Canteen.
On my first trip to NYC, I was lucky enough to have a cocktail, or two, at the hip and trendy Canteen. It was a brown, white and orange slice of design heaven. Clean, mod lines, smooth surfaces, yet still cozy and swank. Sad to say that Canteen has closed, but the memory of it's fabulousness lives on in my mind.
While an all orange room would be, well, orange, it does make a stunning accent color when paired with brown and white or grey and white or brown, grey and white. If a little more depth is desired, the colors below can be added to any of the combinations above.
Valspar, Firmament

food for thought: baby back ribs with tuscan bbq sauce
I made ribs for the very first time this past Sunday for the parents, and oh my they were delish! I used Michael Chiarello's recipe for Baby Back Ribs with Tuscan BBQ Sauce, obviously not your typical BBQ sauce, but man is it tasty. The only thing I did differently was to add a bit of crushed red pepper to the sauce. For the sides, I made The Ultimate Coleslaw by Tyler Florence and Super Spectacular Potato Salad, my own secret recipe ;)
Both of these dishes are keepers, a must try!
Enjoy!

interiors: elegant modern country, decor fall/winter 2009
I, personally, am not a huge fan of townhouses, but this townhouse designed by Barbara Westbrook in Woodstock, Georgia, has changed my opinion... it is 3,000 square feet of fabulousness! Starting with the exterior; keeping with the Colonial style of Georgia, but done so in a cool, contemporary way.
Love, love, love the kitchen!
The dining room is cozy and elegant, with beautiful rustic pieces injected with a bit of modernity thanks to the lovely mixed-media art by Pam Moxley.

friday musings: oops
Not sure if it was the ugly pancake or only one cup a joe after 5 hours of sleep, whatever it was, I had the jumps yesterday and I accidentally ripped out half my eyelashes on my left eye...
hopefully with a little cake eyeliner and a couple of falsies, my parents won't be too embarrassed to run around with their eyelashless daughter. Thank goodness for sunglasses!

style board: beachy glam black & white kitchen
I have never done a kitchen style board for the blog until now, which is weird since the kitchen is usually the most important (and my favorite!) room in the home...
this kitchen definitely has a clean modern cabinet, aluminum frame with wood panels, with a beachy touch of texture and color from the limestone and capiz pendants. A bit of industrial influence from the wire pendants, concrete island and metal tile floor. As well as a little injection of glitz and glam; mirror tiles, gorgeous counter stools (a custom order) and a decadent rug.
I can honestly say, this is the foundation for my future dream kitchen ♥

tuesday's treasure: andaz, san diego
I received an e-mail from Jetsetter featuring the Andaz in San Diego's Gaslamp district, and it is stunning...
with such features as the Quarter Kitchen restaurant, Ivy Wine Bar, Ivy Nightclub, the fantastic Ivy Rooftop and hello, did you see that rooftop pool! The rooms are lovely, clean lined, sophisticated, contempo-mod with a few pretty touches as well.

I'm planning on getting out to San Diego Labor Day weekend to spend some much overdo time with my BFF, maybe we'll have to treat ourselves to a night at the Andaz...
