I kicked off the first day of Fall with a rustic supper; Roasted Beet Salad, Chicken with Napa Sauce and Smashed Parsnips and Potatoes and it was delish! The Smashed Parsnips and Potatoes recipe is from Tyler Florence, and they wereoh so tasty! I did not use a potato ricer or food mill, I prefer a more rustic smash. I also added a small clove of crushed garlic to the warm cream and butter, as well as a dash of white pepper and about two ounces of grated Parmesan.Enjoy!

fab find: nature's accessories & colorado fall spectacular
Dog Faced Boy and I decided on an easy hike yesterday (IE. not a 14'er, however that didn't mean it was incident free) to check out the Fall color explosion that is Colorado...
and it was stunning! The Colorado Trail was beautiful, we couldn't have asked for more perfect weather and even though it is in the mid 80's again today, I did my seasonal wardrobe switch as well as some home accessories. So away went the seashells and out came the natural bling that I gathered on a previous hike and I have to say, it rocks!

food for thought: pesto, part II
Last weeks pizza party was a delicious blast! We had Pesto Pizza, Pepperoni & Jalapeno Pizza, Pizza Margherita and Caramelized Onion & Gorgonzola Pizza. Hands down my fave was the Pesto Pizza...sorry for the horrible pic. The pesto love continued Tuesday evening with a Pesto & Portobello Panini, sooooo good!

1/3 C extra virgin olive oil
1/2 C grated Parmesan
Blend basil, garlic and pine nuts in a food processor or blender. Gradually add olive oil until blended. Place in a bowl, stir in Parmesan and season with S & P.

style board: pantone color report fall 2011, nougat bedroom
I really, really like this Nougat color from the Pantone Color Report Fall 2011, it is the perfect neutral, not only for fashion, but for the home as well...
I intended on using silvery blues and buttery golds as accents, but as soon as I found this taupey batik with navy flowers, I knew I had the perfect combination.

tuesday's treasure: classic hollywood, vogue living nov/dec 2008
The London townhouse of interior designer Veere Grenney is stunning...
the 1880's architectural details blend masterfully with both antique and modern furnishings. The overall color scheme is neutral, but the pops of gold make this home so warm, inviting and glamorous. Love, love, love the style contrast of the oh so modern Sandy Calder painting in this delightfully elegant dining room.
