tuesday's treasure: art deco-international-mod, scott laslie, decor f/w 2009

Today's home, upon first impression, is traditional, until you really absorb the balance of traditional, art deco-mod and lots of international texture and flair...

this show house was dubbed "soft modern" by Decor, a term that I find absolutely marvelous! The clean modern lines and neutral palette are the perfect backdrop for the subtle international influences. Aren't the screens fantastic?

The use of robins egg blue throughout the house is like the glue holding it all together.

Laslie described the vision for the dining room as "Carrie Bradshaw meets Marie Antoinette", my favorite room in the house.

The artisinal tiles used for the back splash in the kitchen, create a stunning Art Deco design.

Laslie truly has a very creative eye, thanks to his background as a trained painter. The wall treatment in the master bathroom above is not paper. He used recycled aluminum beading and installed it alongside and between brown and white tiles. A technique I must try!

And last, but certainly NOT least, love it!
